BASIC GREY CHALLENGE

"This week we would like you to get shapely by using squares, circles, rhomboids, triangles, etc on your creations :), and of course to use at least one item from BasicGrey somewhere on your creations."
I love Basic Grey papers but sadly I don't seem to have too many .....yet....really must rectify that!! For my first go at this challenge I used papers from the Boxer range and the 6x6 size pad.
After I had sorted out the background I immediately thought of elephants and thought it appropriate, considering the prize, to use a lovely image by Jayne Netley Mayhew. She has produced a beautiful CD with Joanna Sheen. Of course, I may just be creeping hahahahahaha

The picture is actually a little darker than in the pic and WHY is it that I cannot seem to get my pics straight??? Must have wonky eyes!!!

Thank you so much for looking and I love reading your comments XXX

Rosie-Dee's Challenge 7

This week it was Deanne's turn to set the challenge. She has asked that we make a layout with a difference....as in NOT 12x12!!! So like Deanne & Rosie I have a done a 12x6 layout!
As you know I am not a scrapper but I gave it a go and found a smashing picture of Jeremy and Vikki on a family day out recently!!!

The background paper is Mellissa Frances' Ashley.

The lovely swirly chipboard is by 2Crafty and available through Bubblyfunk.

The wording is PC generated.

Thank you for looking and don't forget to take a look at these challenges. The girls do a different type every Sunday XXX

DCM....Autumn

The DCM dare for this week is a lovely one and is:

Forever Autumn.

"I decided on this one after hearing the Justin Haywood song of the same name playing on the radio. I couldn’t get it out of my mind and kept singing it as I was working. So now I’m daring you to make a card that depicts Autumn. It can be an Autumn scene or it can be something completely different but using a palette of Autumn colours……the choice is yours!I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if a few of you are singing along by the time you’ve finished either, I know some of the DT were! "

I decided to incorporate this one with the LE this week from Kathy...a pretty sketch. I made a boo boo with the 1/4 circle and creased it by accident so I decided to go with it and creased it some more....kind of gives that dries up Autumn feeling hahahaha. The chippie leaf was dabbed with 2 shades of brown and some gold so it glistens rather than shines, not sure if that came out in the pic tho. Just realised that I should have put veins on it...oh well! The greeting was pc generated.

The papers are by 7Gypsies, the Zanzibar range.

The chippie leaf is from a pack of Plain Jane's

Thank you for looking, I love to read any comments XXX

Rosie-Dee's Challenge 6

This weeks challenge was set by Rosie:

"With Christmas approaching far too quickly for my liking, we'd like you to make a Christmas card using Christmas patterned paper. Easy peasy!"

Am very happy to do this one as I am trying to get my Chrimbo cards done!!!

Although nothing on the card is glossy there is some glare from the camera flash....sorry! The papers I used are from Carolee's Creations Adornit Winter Collection. I love this set because the colours are so different from your usual Christmasy ones! I tried to keep it simple so that it showed of the lovely paper so just a bit of wording ('Winter Wonderland') and a chippie heart on it.

Thank you so much for looking XXX

DCM....Paint the Town...

A huge Congratuations to the girls at DCM!!!! Week 52 of year 2!!! Just how do you keep coming up with such fresh ideas???

Rhi has set this special challenge this week:

"Paint the Town........ red, green, sky blue pink with yellow dots on, or any colour you fancy, with acrylics, H2Os or watercolours, with brushes, sponges or splatters. We don't mind, as long as you use paint on your cards. So have some fun with the DCM and get Painty this week. Leave us a message with a link to your blog and we'll be sure to come and check out your Painted Creations. Go on, celebrate our birthday with us and Paint the Town any way you like!"
It just so happens that I had been playing around with backgrounds last week and this tied in perfectly with this weeks dare. I water spritzed some ordinary copier paper and then dabbed a few different H2O's on it, spritzed again and then just screwed it up into a ball!!!! I then opened it out to let it dry. Where there were creases the mica was more pronounced. I am so pleased
with the effect I am going to 'play' again!!!

The chippie tree was just dabbed with 2 blue versamark pads. I kept it matt to compliment the background. Not too sure about the bow tho!!! The whole thing was mounted onto a cream DL card.
Thank you so much for looking and I would love to read any comments that are left XXX

It seems that weddings have been much in the news in my world lately. Goes like that sometimes doesn't it? A few of my daughters friends have either just got engaged or are nearly married....makes me feel old! The first card I made for a fellow forum member over on BubblyFunk who recently got married and was a beautiful bride too!!!

The paper I used was 12x12 embossed and glittered wedding paper, its beautiful stuff! The sentiment was printed onto vellum.

The second card was for my husband for our first anniversary. I can't believe that our first year has gone so quickly!!!

He doesn't like over-fussy (like most men) so I kept his simple. Why are our men so hard to make cards for????

The image of the meerkats is from a gorgeous CD Rom full of beautiful sketches called The Jayne Netley-Mayhew Collection, available from Joanna Sheens website. The background is also from the cd and is a sandune of sorts.

To save my blushes I won't tell you how the verse carries on inside tho hee hee

Thanks for dropping by and please leave a message XXX

Rosie-Dee's Challenge 5

This week it was Deanne's turn to do the challenge:

' A card, but not just any card....I would like to see the following incorporated into it:
square

circle

pink

glitter'
I hope you are feeling better today Deanne X
I have kept this one simple, a bit like me really hehe. I used paper by K&Co for the square. The round sentiment was a free download but I just cannot think where from...sorry. I punched it out with a scalloped punch and mounted it onto a cork flower from BubblyFunk. A brad and some stickles finished it off. Actually the glitter is still wet which is why it looks so bright!!!
thank you for looking XXX

DCM - BRIGHT!

' This week your challenge is to be
Bright!
Clashy is good, hot colours are good, anything super duper bright is good too.
If you want to double dare then why not use the sketch that Vanessa made for her marvellous mid week dare?I can't wait to put on my shades to visit your blogs!' Rein

What a brilliant excuse to use up leftovers! Its about time I did as my leftover drawer is so full its tumbling out! I have used a mix of papers that I wouldn't normally put together...you may recognise some of them. I mounted the strips on a scrap of Bazill. It was still looking a little dull so I added the bright yellow ric-rac which livens it up! The sentiment is a rub-on.

Thank you for taking a look and if you leave a comment then many thanks again XXX

Rosie-Dee's Challenge 4

It was Rosie's turn to set the challenge this week and oh my it was a hard one hehe
'I challenge you to buy yourself a box of chocolates (or even better, get someone else to buy them for you!) You can then alter the empty box to use as storage. Easy eh?'

With much sacrifice to myself and the girls in the office I managed to get through this one unscathed!!! After having a nosey around I found a loverly box of Black Magic. I was after the box of course (and if you believe that you will believe anything hehe)

The box is about 5" cubed with a lovely deep lid, perfect for tarting up! I used some of my BubblyFunk September kit for this project, tho I am still not sure what I will use the box for in my craft room. When I do I will probably add a dangle label to the top.

Thanks to Rosie for insisting that I eat chocolate!!!!!!!!!!!!! and thanks to you for taking a look X
