- Take a hardback book and carefully cut away all the pages using a craft knife, being careful not to cut the cover. Apply Multi-Medium and cover the inside and outside with crumpled up tissue paper. When dry apply two coats of Americana Vivid Violet.
- Cut the gussets and closure flap from Grungepaper. For the gussets cut two pieces that measure the width of the book spine plus 3cm (1.5cm for each tab) by the depth of the book cover minus 4cm. For the closure flap cut a piece that is as tall as the book and at least long enough to wrap round from the back. Shape the front by drawing round a DL envelope flap. Paint with Americana Bahama Blue.
- Apply Brilliance Pearlescent Purple to a crackle stamp and apply over the painted Grungepaper on both sides. Go around all edges with Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate. When dry glue the gussets and flap firmly to the book base as shown. Score where the Grungepaper needs to fold.
- Attach some lace over the flap and around the back so that it ties in the front. Add a Painted Tando Flower and crocheted flower with a brad to finish.
If you go the The Craft Barn blog there is a PDF to download ;-D
I was pretty pleased with the result as its really sturdy and I can see that the idea could be adapted so easily into a bag!!!

Very ingenious Karen on first looking at it I thought it was leather. :)
Simply brilliant, Karen. I've seen purses, but never turned into a folder for holding your craft supplies. I bet that would look pretty on a desk, too.
For me it's gorgeou as it is, drawer or not drawer! A nice gift for a stylish little girl.
Love the combo, too!
