WOYWW........nearly hehe

Hello lovely people!!!!  Sorry its been a week since I blogged but I have been on a long weekend crafty retreat with my lovely BubblyFunk Forum pals.  There was no point in taking pics of my workspace as its completely tidy...no crafting for a week :(

A couple of weeks ago I was asked what was inside my ephemera box that was on the shelf unit.  So I have hoiked it out from its new hiding place and taken a peek inside...

Most of this was snaffled from some of the numerous boxes left by FIL.  I love the old knitting & crochet book by Patons & Baldwin and the Continental Travel Hints holder by Southern Railway!!!  There are old insurance letterheads with some lovely typefaces on too.

I just had to show you one of the pages from the knitting book.  I have looked but can't see a date on it anywhere but look what you could make for your toddler???  And what on earth is a body belt all about?????

Thank you so much for taking a peep today, hopefully it will be my desk next time.  If you love a nosey then popping over to JULIA'S is a must for you!!!  HUGS XXX

Some fab stuff there Karen! I'd be scanning those to print out and use on projects, I reckon! I think the body belt may have had the same thinking as the old liberty bodices - gotta keep the chill off those kidneys, you know!

What a treasure trove you have in that box. Wow, what I could do with all that paper (grin)! I'm glad you had fun on your retreat and that you came back to a totally clean work space. Now it's time to get it messy again. Happy WOYWW. You were missed.

Lucky you going on a crafting retreat, so glad that you could!
Do you think the body belt was to stop the top half garment from becoming untucked from the bottom half? Sounds logical... I'll have to ask my Mum, she and my Gran would have knitted these for me and my brother to wear I suspect. They have knitted just about everything else that could possibly be made out of knitting and many things that really should not. Like the knitted knickers out of wool that my Mum used to wear (during wartime) apart from the droopyness of them how they must have itched! Yikes!

Unless it is similar to those sash things the men wear around their stomachs under their dinner jackets; cummerbunds. Only this is the kids knitted version LOL!
