Altered Dictionary - G

Hello!  Its that time again - Altered Dictionary time and its the letter G.  I very nearly did G for Gooseberry but settled for Grapefruit...because I had one in my fruit basket hahaha!  Lots of colour on this page..

While looking up information about the fruit on tinternet I came across some alarming facts.  I knew that eating grapefruit or drinking the juice could interfere with some prescription drugs but certainly not as many...I was shocked indeed!  Definitely a NO NO if you take any Statins, so I am now not allowing them in the house as hubby is on those!  But there are other tablets too....

PLEASE READ THE NHS WEBSITE *HERE*.

Because I had so many pages to fill before my next letter I have printed off the sheets and glued them into my book, punching hols and tying with a ribbon.

Thank you for popping by and please read the article if you like grapefruit, HUGS xxx

Altered Dictionary - Z

Hello Lovely Blogging Friends :D  This 'Z' is a really tricky letter isn't it?  I am sure that I am not the only one who had a problem with this one, I actually ended up reading the dictionary hahaha!  But then it just hit me between the eyes...the word not the dictionary :D  ZEST!  Not actually a fruit in itself but its made of fruit so that's good enough for me.  You might need your sunglasses though as its a bit bright!

I used a paper napkin that I found in a local shop...its very zesty isn't it?  I glued is down with Multi-Medium and then cut along a line of fruit on the left page so that I could make a pocket.  The tags show the words to 'Oranges & Lemons', a lovely old nursery rhyme that I remember skipping to centuries ago.  I also found a version which may well be the original.  Here are both if you are not familiar with it...

ORANGES and LEMONS

Oranges and lemons, Say the bells of St. Clements.
Bull's eyes and targets, Say the bells of St. Margret's.
Brickbats and tiles, Say the bells of St. Giles'.
Halfpence and farthings, Say the bells of St. Martin's.
Pancakes and fritters, Say the bells of St. Peter's.
Two sticks and an apple, Say the bells of Whitechapel.
Pokers and tongs, Say the bells of St. John's.
Kettles and pans, Say the bells of St. Ann's.
Old Father Baldpate, Say the slow bells of Aldgate.
You owe me ten shillings, Say the bells of St. Helen's.
When will you pay me? Say the bells of Old Bailey.
When I grow rich, Say the bells of Shoreditch.
Pray when will that be? Say the bells of Stepney.
I do not know, Says the great bell of Bow.
Here comes a candle to light you to bed,
Here comes a chopper to chop off your head.
Chop chop chop chop The last man's dead!

The 1744 version

Two Sticks and Apple,
Ring ye Bells at Whitechapple,
Old Father Bald Pate,
Ring ye Bells Aldgate,
Maids in White Aprons,
Ring ye Bells a St. Catherines,
Oranges and Lemons,
Ring ye bells at St. Clements,
When will you pay me,
Ring ye Bells at ye Old Bailey,
When I am Rich,
Ring ye Bells at Fleetditch,
When will that be,
Ring ye Bells at Stepney,
When I am Old,
Ring ye Bells at Pauls.

As I have now done 'A' and 'Z' I can decorate the cover of my book.  Not too sure what I will be doing so watch this space.  Thank you so much for taking a look today, HUGS xxx

Alpha Challenge - O

Hello lovely bloggers!  Its Alpha Challenge time at The Craft Barn again and this time its the letter 'O' with a twist that you must provide a fold in your pages.  Continuing with my fruit theme I have chosen OLIVE.  Now I love olives and could eat them like sweets but I really am not happy with my page this time....it looks too dull to me.  Never mind, the rest of the book is looking colourful :D

I folded the right hand page to make a triangle and then the page behind it was cut down and folded in half across.  All this makes a good pocket for my bottle of oil.  I can't quite believe that I photographed my own bottle and olives hahaha!

Although we are over half way through this challenge now its never too late to start.  Have fun with your page, HUGS xxx

Altered dictionary - P

Hi!  I have another page in my Altered Dictionary for you today :D  I am so loving this challenge over at The Craft Barn Blog.  The random letter today is P and I have gone fors P for POMEGRANATE.  I don't like eating them as I can't be doing with all those seeds haha!  But saying that they are really beautiful inside aren't they.  I was so pleased with the photograph I took as it shows how they glisten.

I used stencils and stamps this time, though I did run out of room for my 'pomegranate' word...oh well, never mind, thats the joy of it all...there are no mistakes in this sort of craft is there? hahahaha!!!

Do pop over *HERE* for a look at the challenge, its never too late to join in as all the prompts are on the sidebar.  If you fancy a treat have a look at the entries, there is some really inspiring work there!

Altered Dictionary -V is for Victoria Plums

haha!  No, not the 70's doll but real fruit :D  I just LOVE these and have a load that I stewed way back in the summer in my freezer ready for when I fancy a crumble :D

This is the start of the new challenge over at The Craft Barn Blog.  Its an Alpha Challenge running once a fortnight.  I have decided to alter a dictionary, mainly because I thought I had a few old ones lurking around.  Could I find one???????  I ended up getting a large one from a cheap shop to alter.  Enough waffle...here are my pages...

I couldn't do anything fancy this time as there are only a few 'V' pages.  I do intend to use fruit for the whole dictionary and yes, I have found something for the awkward letters hahaha!  I do hope that you will join us in this challenge and do pop over ~HERE~ to see what some of the DT have done for their letter 'V'.

Happy Crafting, HUGS xxx
