Hi lovely bloggers! After all the excitement of making Christmas stuff I am back with my dress for August and I already have an idea written down for September!!!! For this dress I was inspired by the sea......I love the sea & miss living on its doorstep :(
Once again I used the lovely GINI's template. The background was some card I had been spraying & painting that I didn't use for the previous project. I embossed some swirls in silver to represent the waves and as it needed 'something' I added a flower & ribbons. The teensy cawrie shells are very special to me so I really had to steel myself to use 3 of them. Years ago a terminally ill, elderly friend asked to see me a few days before she died. She very gently gave me a little jar of beautiful shells, telling me that her husband had picked them up off a beach in India while he was there in the war & brought them home for her. She treasured them as, although he survived the war he wasn't with her long. I have always been touched that she knew I would look after them & I have....see I am really a softie!
Anyway...if you would like to have a go at making a dress pop over to see MARGARET to find out more.
Thank you for popping by & please leave a comment if you have time, LOVE & HUGS XXX

That's such a pretty dress - I love all the embossing, but the shells with their special meaning really makes it xxx
Beautiful dres Karen, the embossed "waves" look really elegant. I think using the shells on something lovely would win approval from their original owner, too :o)
Your Sea Dress is really lovely Karen, the most gorgeous shade of blue

I have NO idea how I missed this post or this dress. This is gorgeous, and I really appreciate the delicate silver embossing and was deeply touched by the story behind the cawrie shells. I'm sure your elderly friend is quite pleased with how you shared them this month with all of us.
