DCM - Kitchenalia!

Its been such a long time since I entered a Daring Cardmakers Challenge!!!!  But today I really fancied a bit of glueing & snipping.  I am not too sure if this fits the bill but its about cooking hahaha!!!

The image & words are from Crafty Secrets...could be for a Valentine couldn't it? :-D  The background is October Afternoon.  The papers & images are very muted and old fashioned, its not my camera!

Thank you for popping by, HUGS xxx

WHEN IS A LEAF NOT A LEAF?...

...when its a tree!!!!!!  I was sent this lovely fern leaf by Di at Tando Creative and, still being in Christmas mode, I turned it into a tree!!!!!  I think this worked quite well.....

The fern leaf has been coloured & crackled, then stickles added.  The little parcels & holly are all stamped, coloured & glossed.  The sentiment is stamped as well!!!  So why don't you take a sideways glance at your chippie leaves???

I am also going to enter this for the DCM this week, which is tree's.  GOSH...I haven't done a DCM card for yonks...sorry girls XXX  Do pop over HERE to see more trees!

Thank you so much for taking the time to pop over, HUGS XXXX

DCM - hearts X

Gosh......I haven't done a DCM CHALLENGE for absolutely yonks, makes me feel ashamed :(  But here I am anyway and who could resist a card with a heart after this weekend?  I had to wait till today to post as hubby loves to wander round my blog hahahaha!  Here is my heart....

Jeremy doesn't like anything too fussy so this is a fairly simple card.  I went round the edges with distress ink and just stamped (Prima Stamps).  The heart started life as chippie.  It was painted red & the utee's and a black inke stamp plunged in haha!

Thank you for looking, hope you had a loved up day yesterday XXX

DCM - WET WET WET

I haven't done one of these for a few weeks and I do miss them! Its an excellent way of building up a variety of cards. This week it was Kathy's turn to set the dare...

"This week I'd like you to do a bit of "singing in the rain" and make cards on the theme"Wet, Wet, Wet"I'd like to see cards featuring water of any kind, and if you can actually USE water in the making of them - then you can claim an extra bonus point lol."
No extra point for me this week tho hahahaha!!!

I was hunting round trying to get inspiration for this theme when I found a little journalling book by Crafty Secrets. Imagine how I laughed when I looked inside!!!!! I found this sassy lady!!!! Wish I had a waist like hers hahahaha!!!
The background papers are from Life's Journey by K&Co. I was really pleased how this all came together so swimmingly hahahahaha
Thanks for taking the time for a peek!!! Have a lovely weekend, HUGS XXX

DCM - BIG BLOOMERS!!!

It is the lovely Lythan's turn to set the dare this week:

SUPERSIZE ME!

"I have loads of enormous paper flowers that I have bought and never used. So I want to see some really big embellishments on your cards. Bonus points for outsize blooms!"
Now I have several large bloomers in my drawers hahahahahahaha. I picked out a lovely juicy red one for impact and then ended up covering most of it up with another one cut down with my pinking shears.....how did that happen??? hehe. A big flower like this is always going to cause impact so I went with bright papers too. The papers are BG Bittersweet.

Thank you for taking a look and I hope you find big bloomers in your drawers hehe XXX

DCM - GAMES & TOYS FOR BOYS!

"It's Rein here this week, and I'm daring you to make a masculine card

Games and Toys for Boys

put a race track, dart board, vehicle... on your card."

As soon as I read the prompt this week I knew that, at last, I had found a use for the didy pack of cards I bought in a toy shop a while back!!! I dug out a king and an ace to use and then picked colours to go round them!

Thank you for taking a look, have a brilliant weekend XXX

DCM 13.03.09

This week Kathy set an excellent dare this week....along the lines of cookery hehe

" I'll tell you the ingredients you have to use, then all you have to do is make the card.
Here are your ingredients:

3 different papers
At least one piece of chipboard
At least 1 button
At least 1 piece of ribbonoptional:
1 extra item/element of your choice "

I didn't think that I would get this in on time this week but I made it!!! Big aplogies to Kathy who doesn't like cats but I love this chippie cat hehe

I have just popped back in now to alter this!!! I took one look at that button and decided that it HAD to go....what was I thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So the second card is what it has ended up like hehe

revised version!!!

The paper I have used are BG Eva and the chippie cat is 2Crafty from Bubblyfunk.

Thank you for talking a look XXX

DCM - CIRCLES

The lovely Vannessa set the dare this week:

"This week, the title says it all - I want to see lots of circles, you can decide how you use them, whether it be the shape of your card or how you display circular elements within the design and thats it, nice and simple"

I did toy with the idea of making a circular card but soon scrapped that as the only way would be to cut one myself and I am useless at circles!!! BUT I did find some paper covered in circles in my stash...mmm....could make your eyes go squiffy hahahahaha

The background paper is from the range Hippy Chick by S.E.I. I used what circular punches I had to create a variety of matching circles from scrap and then stamped the greeting on the smaller one. The teensy one was cut form the patterned paper. I then doodled (badly hmph!) round a couple of the circles and added glitter & glossy accents to lift it!

Thank you for taking a peek, have a lovely week whatever you are doing! XXX

DCM - FROGS OR FISH!

"It's Rein here this week with a new dare: I want to see a fish or a frog on your cards."

This one posed a bit of a problem for me as I had used a frog on the last weeks dare! But I started to think about fish and remembered that it was the zodiac month of Pisces!!! So I immediately looked to my favourite modern artist, Susan Seddon Boulet, to provide me with an image to make a card for a dear friend. I stamped swirls onto some BG mottled pale blue card and coloured in with a silver pen, tho I don't think the silver shows up too much...sorry. I added some beads and a silver swirl. I didn't want to detract from the beautiful image.

The image that I used is called Pisces and if you look closely (hope you can) you will see the fish in her hair. Neptune is looking over her shoulder as well. Susan Seddon Boulet's work was amazingly detailed, esp her more spiritual stuff. Please take a look at her work. Sadly she died a few years ago and I can't find her website now but take a look at the images Google chucked up HERE!
Thank you so much for coming to my blog to take a look XXX

DCM - FEELING GREEN?

It is Jozza's turn to set the dare this week:

"The dare is feeling green. I want to see lots of green on your cards in any shade you like. You could even do a double dare and make a green themed get well card. It's up to you. We can't wait to see what you come up with...."

mmmm....green is not a colour I normally use as the main colourway, it just reminds me toooooo much of my old school uniform :(. So this was a good challenge for me!!! My sister, on the other hand, loves greens and is daft about frogs (its a long story hahaha) so I made this card for her.

I used a mixture of papers from my scrap box and did my usual scruffy stuff. I got the frog by drawing round a die-cut that was given to me yonks ago. I couldn't resist the cupid eyelet for the mouth tho or the googly eyes hahahaha!!! The greeting is pc generated.

Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my frog XXX

DCM - ORIENTAL SPLENDOUR!

This week it was Sue's turn to set the dare, she says:

'I would like you to make a card with an Oriental influence and the ‘Take Away’ I referred to is the twist in the tail.

When ever Oriental is mentioned most people, including myself immediately reach for Red and Black so I’m taking them away from you and removing them from the pallet of colours that you can use on your card.

So to recap:-I dare you to make an Oriental themed card which doesn’t use Red or Black.'

If you fancy a go at this take a look here! for lots of inspiration.

I was really pleased when I read what the dare was as I am not keen on the B/R combo on Oriental cards only romantic cards for my fella hehehehe!

As I still had my DCWV Far Eastern pad out from my last post I used that again. The stamps are of the Willow Pattern and come in a pack from Kodomo Inc. All the inking was done with Rocket Red Gold which went with the apricot colour in the paper perfectly. I added a bit of green, which matches the green on the stems. A bit of ribbon and voila!!!

Thank you for taking a look XXX

DCM - GET SOMEONE TO MAKE IT!

Jo got us all in a dither with this brilliant dar - get someone to make it for you!!!

I called on my lovely craft friend Gez and asked her is we could do each others!!! She rose to the challenge and after a bit of PM'ing and e-mailing we decided to have a colour theme of green with a touch of purple and the card was to be for a friend. We then decided to use one of
Kathy Blacks Sketches to work by. Please pop over there as she has some really lovely sketches you can work with!

The first card is mine and I have used some green patterned paper(no name on the back) that came from a kit. I stamped the words using a lovely stamp by Hero Arts and lightly chalked the main words in purple.

Here is Gezzy's card, isn't it lovely??? I am amazed at how alike our cards have turned out, just goes to show how similar our tastes are!!! For more of her crafty goodies check out her blog here. You will be delighted by her other crafting skills!!!

Thank you so much for taking a look at our work. XXX

DCM - Giving Thanks!

Hello everyone!!!

First of all may I wish you A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! I hope that 2009 brings you all you wish for and more XXX

The DCM for this week is to make a Thank You card. I am very slack at these and every year I mean to make them but in true Cornish tradition the idea is usually a 'dreckly' one hahahahaha!

But I have been good and made one for the DCM challenge to kick-start my years crafting. I certainly needed a kick up the bum tho as the after effects of the flu over Christmas left me with NO MOJO....arghhhh! So this is a simple card using a cuttlebug folder and some lovely white core card. The background paper is by Crafty Individuals.

Thank you so much for taking a look XXX

Friday, 21 November 2008

This week its Vannessa's turn to set the dare and its a good one too:
"Yes, I'm a bit of a cappuccino/latte macchiato girl, so I want to see lots of cards inspired by coffee!! Coffee colours, cup shaped cards, card inspired by a coffee jar label, using coffee beans on your card, coffee shop logos on your cards etc etc....."
I decided to use an image of an old coffee company advert and have a 'heritage' feel to my card. I have loads of these on a cd from 3DJean. The sentiment is from Quote Garden ....again...oh I love that site!!! All mounted and layered onto some BG Archaic papers. Oh and I added some braid and a few gold brads too.

Thank you for taking a look XXX

DCM - Birdies!!!

This week is was Rein's turn to set the dare:

Bird, Birds and More Birds

"I love birds so I'd like you all to make a card featuring birds this week
......a bird in the snow, a birds nest, a carrier pigeon, a white stork or birds in the sky, or...,or... even big bird!"

I love using birds on stuff!!! I decided that anything I do now just has to be Christmasy as I have so many cards to do!!! This image came to me in a stamped image swap I organised over on Bubbly Funk. I am so sorry but I can't remember whose it was now as I just tipped them all out in a pile in my excitement hee hee.
I used the gorgeous BG Wassail holly paper for the background...yummy stuff! I watercoloured the image and then went over the green with a sakura glaze pen. Little bits of gold pen were added as well as a bit of glitter on the stars.
Thank to whoever provided the image, I think its lovely X
Thank you for taking time out to have a look XXX

DCM - SPARKLE & BLING!!!!!!

"This week its Jozza's turn for the Dare and as its Fireworks week here in the UK she has gone all sparkly - so the brief was lots of bling!! "

This ws a lot of fun...a brilliant excuse to get that glitter and bling out hehe. As the DCM team were given some cute Dottie images from Charmed Cards & Craft to use I thought I would use an image that I also got from there. This puss is part of a lovely download of animals from there.

I used BG Two Scoops for the background as I thought it looked pretty regal and all the bits are mounted onto silver mirri card. Puss is watercoloured and I touched puss up ( now that sounds bad....sorry) with a clear sakura stardust pen. Of course puss has to have some bling so a chunky gemstone collar was added hehe. Some silver metallic ribbon just finishes the card.

I haven't decided yet whether puss is male or female. But with 4 cats living with me puss has a look of my young Sam when he has been up to mischief hahahahaha

Thank you so much for taking time to look, I really appreciate it XXX

It was Rachel's turn to set the dare this week:

"We couldn't really choose any other theme could we!!!!!
So what we would like to challenge you with today is producing something with a Halloween, or scary theme - it can be a card or something else (well not everyone sends Hallowe'en cards do they!) so bags, boxes, lanterns or whatever!!!"
I have to admit that I am a bit bah humbug over Halloween, though I do love to see the stuff that people make for it....thats a bit 2 & 8 I know hee hee! So for this week I tried to make a card with a monster on it, hope that fits the theme Rachel.
The image was from clipart which I traced and then coloured with sakura glaze.....isn't it shiny??
The papers are BG Archaic. I have curled the points on the 'bunting', which is why it looks uneven in the piccy.

Thanks so much fro taking the time to have a look at my card XXX

DCM....Autumn

The DCM dare for this week is a lovely one and is:

Forever Autumn.

"I decided on this one after hearing the Justin Haywood song of the same name playing on the radio. I couldn’t get it out of my mind and kept singing it as I was working. So now I’m daring you to make a card that depicts Autumn. It can be an Autumn scene or it can be something completely different but using a palette of Autumn colours……the choice is yours!I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if a few of you are singing along by the time you’ve finished either, I know some of the DT were! "

I decided to incorporate this one with the LE this week from Kathy...a pretty sketch. I made a boo boo with the 1/4 circle and creased it by accident so I decided to go with it and creased it some more....kind of gives that dries up Autumn feeling hahahaha. The chippie leaf was dabbed with 2 shades of brown and some gold so it glistens rather than shines, not sure if that came out in the pic tho. Just realised that I should have put veins on it...oh well! The greeting was pc generated.

The papers are by 7Gypsies, the Zanzibar range.

The chippie leaf is from a pack of Plain Jane's

Thank you for looking, I love to read any comments XXX

DCM....Paint the Town...

A huge Congratuations to the girls at DCM!!!! Week 52 of year 2!!! Just how do you keep coming up with such fresh ideas???

Rhi has set this special challenge this week:

"Paint the Town........ red, green, sky blue pink with yellow dots on, or any colour you fancy, with acrylics, H2Os or watercolours, with brushes, sponges or splatters. We don't mind, as long as you use paint on your cards. So have some fun with the DCM and get Painty this week. Leave us a message with a link to your blog and we'll be sure to come and check out your Painted Creations. Go on, celebrate our birthday with us and Paint the Town any way you like!"
It just so happens that I had been playing around with backgrounds last week and this tied in perfectly with this weeks dare. I water spritzed some ordinary copier paper and then dabbed a few different H2O's on it, spritzed again and then just screwed it up into a ball!!!! I then opened it out to let it dry. Where there were creases the mica was more pronounced. I am so pleased
with the effect I am going to 'play' again!!!

The chippie tree was just dabbed with 2 blue versamark pads. I kept it matt to compliment the background. Not too sure about the bow tho!!! The whole thing was mounted onto a cream DL card.
Thank you so much for looking and I would love to read any comments that are left XXX

DCM - BRIGHT!

' This week your challenge is to be
Bright!
Clashy is good, hot colours are good, anything super duper bright is good too.
If you want to double dare then why not use the sketch that Vanessa made for her marvellous mid week dare?I can't wait to put on my shades to visit your blogs!' Rein

What a brilliant excuse to use up leftovers! Its about time I did as my leftover drawer is so full its tumbling out! I have used a mix of papers that I wouldn't normally put together...you may recognise some of them. I mounted the strips on a scrap of Bazill. It was still looking a little dull so I added the bright yellow ric-rac which livens it up! The sentiment is a rub-on.

Thank you for taking a look and if you leave a comment then many thanks again XXX
